Self preservation to me means that you look out for you above anything else; whatever needs to be done to make sure that you are successful.
Is self preservation the most important thing?
I think self preservation IS important because it can help you be confident in making sure you are successful. I don't think it's the MOST important thing though.
Would you lie because of it?
I think a big part about self preservation is lying. You're covering for yourself and making sure you're #1.
